Hibernation can be hindered by a number of issues, especially drivers under Vista.  Though I remember XP having quite a few Sleep related bugs when it was first released also.

Can you be more specific about your issue, is it having a problem with slow hibernation or being slow on coming back up? Make and Model?  I can usually pinpoint some of the issues being motherboard/Drive interface drivers.  

Are you seeing any errors in the Event Log during hibernate/wake up?</description>
