This week I got a chance to meet David Davis, the CompTIA A+ instructor. It was a strange experience, because I feel like I already know him. It was kind of like meeting a celebrity; someone you think you know even though you’ve never met.
I didn’t get a chance to talk to him about my progress with the A+, but I did let him know that I enjoy his videos and learning from him. David, is an interesting guy, and very smart too.

Did you know he has his own website? That’s right! HappyRouter.com is a wealth of information, complete with Free Training Videos, a Knowledgebase, and Forums on a variety of topics. David uses his site to share his knowledge and expertise on Cisco, VMware, Windows Server 2008, and much more.
And he’s well qualified too. Check out his list of certifications: CCIE #9369, CWNA, MCSE, CISSP, Linux+, CEH … I could go on and on. But no wonder, David has been in the IT industry for over 15 years and has written dozens of articles, practice tests, and has even co-authored a book!
He has also taught many courses besides the CompTIA A+, including: CompTIA Linux+, Windows XP Professional, ISA Server 2004 Firewall Training, Microsoft Virtual Server, VMware Server and Workstation and the newly released VMware ESX Server.
David has also found the time to contribute a few articles for Train Signal Training including:
So check these out when you get a chance and visit HappyRouter.com if you’re interested in reading more.
I hope that this has given you some insight into who David Davis is and what his qualifications as an IT instructor are. I was also hoping to give you a better idea of what he’s like as an instructor, in case you’re thinking of trying one of his training courses.
The ultimate test is in the training videos themselves, so check out our free training: CompTIA A+ Hardware Components by David Davis.
As far as my progress with A+ is concerned, I’ve finished the Configuring Networks video and have one more left on my list. I’ve taken a holiday break from studying, but my goal is to get back into it and finish the training by the end of next week.
Then it’s time for hard-core study. I’ve kept good notes so hopefully I’ll be able to review what I learned and get through the practice exams with some success. To be honest, I’m not looking forward to the test date, but I am excited about finishing the training and finally getting my A+ certification.
