I’m done! I’m finally done!
It only took me five and a half months and a total of 18 posts to get through the 20+ hours of CompTIA A+ training … but I am finally finished!
Watching the last video felt great. Not because I don’t want to see them again, but because I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
This was a big thing for me. I learned so much in these last few months and I can’t wait to learn even more! I’m definitely hooked …
The only bad thing is that this was the easy part — watching videos and writing posts — now I still have to pass the two certification exams to get my A+ cert. And I won’t lie, I am very nervous about the exams. I don’t want to have to retake them, because that will make it even more stressful than it already is.
But look at me … already talking about doing a retake, and I haven’t even taken the exam! Just shows what a positive outlook I have on all of this :)
The last video focused on Computer and Network Security as a continual process. David Davis covered encryption technologies, protecting your backups, authentication, and the security policy, illustrated below:

The video also covered file system security, wireless security, malicious software and protection from possible attacks, which I already knew a little bit about after reading Stelios’ article on Best Ways to Battle Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horse Attacks and More!
Some of the topics were already covered in the previous video on security, but this one was much more detailed and included more hands-on information on what to do. David showed how to configure the security features on his own computer, like his firewall and his wireless network, which was a good practice because I could follow along and do the same tasks on my own computer.
The objectives that were covered in this video, include:
Now I’m off to study … I have to make sure that all I’ve learned in these last few months is sticking and that I can pass the exams!

After 5 years of experience building and repairing computer I finally decided to take the A+ exams, so the question is: did you finally take it? I had read all your post but none stating that you took the exam. Any comment? Good luck anyway!.
