I’ve got a special post for you today. I hope you enjoy.
First off, I’d like to congratulate longtime Train Signal instructor David Davis on his recent achievement … becoming a VMware Certified Professional (VCP)!
While David was busy working towards his VCP, amazingly he had enough time to put together a master piece of VMware Training for all of us.
I am pleased to announce David has finished Train Signal’s first VMware Training course: VMware Server and Workstation.
In this course, David delivers over 13 hours of step by step coverage of VMware Workstation and VMware Server products including topics like scripting, clustering, cloning, and optimizing.
If you are not already a Train Signal Newsletter Subscriber I suggest signing up today.
As an added bonus for newsletter subscribers only, I’m making the entire first video of the course available in tomorrow’s newsletter. If you’ve never seen first-hand what VMware can do, or if you don’t fully understand “Virtualization” … I think you’ll get a lot out of this video.
In later videos of the VMware course, David brushes over some very cool new features in Workstation 6.0 that allow you to not only record and playback video of your VMs, but also record and playback the actual actions you perform on the VM.
We’re Growing!
Thanks to all of you who applied to the positions posted on Train Signal Training over the last couple of months. Over the next few months, we’ll be introducing you to a number of Train Signal team members.
More Training Than Ever!
With the addition of the new team members we are gearing up for some of our biggest and best releases yet. Keep your eyes and ears peeled in the coming months for VMware Server/Workstation, VMware ESX Server, Cisco ONT and ISCW, the NEW CCNA and CCENT, Exchange Server 2007, and SQL Server 2005 … plus a couple special ones I’ll be informing you about in upcoming newsletters.
Good, Better, Best!
In our commitment to bring you the best training available we are continuing to make improvements on our videos, website, and support. We have some new features lined up and you will see them soon in all of our upcoming courses.
In addition, I want to hear what you want the most and what we can do to continue delivering the Best Computer Training on the Planet. I invite you to sound off and comment below. I’ll be more than happy to discuss any improvement ideas you have in mind.
Sincerely,
Gary Eimerman

It took some time to find Trainsignal and when I did I was really impressed Scott’s approach to “show & tell” turned out to be, the best found bar none. Also tried some of Chris Bryants CCNA courses have run through the CCNA once and will be going back to run through again. And finally David’s Virtual server. It was interesting but really would like to see the meat of the course much like the approach used by Scott. After all that is what hooked me to start with:
ActiveDir_Server2k&2k3
Cisco_training
Exchange_Server
FileSrvr_2K&2K3
ISA_NAT_ICS
Routers_routing_protocols&PacketFilters
VPN

I have been a customer for about two years, and I am extremely happy with the products that TrainSignal delivers.
I agree with the review by Rudy. David’s Virtual Server was interesting but really would also like to see the meat of the course. Scott’s approach is also what made me purchase the entire windows series.
I must admit it is the best training currently on the planet!
I am looking forward to products on Microsoft System Management and Microsoft Operation Management.

Hi Greg & Rudy-
Thank you all for the very kind words. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the free video on VMware. I am pleased to let you know that after the introduction videos to VMware the course itself has the same Train Signal method that Scott uses throughout the training library. David shows you how to do some really neat stuff with VMware products. There will be a demo that shows a bit more of the hands on style available on Trainsignal.com this coming week.
Also, thank you for posting what topics you are interested. All the topics mentioned have and will be on our project draft board and I look forward to working to bring the best computer training on the planet for you on these topics in the future.
Sincerely,
Gary Eimerman

I’ve been a proud follower of TrainSignal products. Ever since you surprised me with your excellent Win2K/2K3 training, I’ve been eagerly awaiting and purchasing your latest videos. They have helped me tremendously in both increasing my hand-on knowledge and improving my performance at work. My rapid promotions at work is a testament to your fine product. My greatest fear is outgrowing your product selection. Please add the following to your list of forthcoming products: Citrix CCEA, MS Clustering, MOM, SMS, VMWare ESX, and HP OpenView. I look forward to the day when your products can take the network admin to the next level.

Hi Gunther-
We are glad to hear our training has benefited you.
I am happy to let you know that we are working very hard right now to expand our library even further and we will do our best to keep up with your blistering pace. On your list of course we’ve already started work on VMware ESX Server and a bundle of more great courses are in the works as we speak.
Sincerely,
Gary Eimerman

Trainsignals keep up the good work-
Keep the new Titles coming!
(i.e. Citrix, ESX, SQL2005, Sharepoint)
Question for Dave-
In the new VMware series do you discuss setting up / configuring ISCSI?
Thanks!
Dan-
David Davis Says:

In response to Dan:
iSCSI is not discussed in the VMware Server & Workstation video series but that will be a topic for the upcoming VMware ESX Server series.
Thanks for your interest!

Hi Lorenzo,
I’m happy to let you know that David Davis is working right now to follow up his great VMware Server course with the VMware ESX 3.0 course. Preproduction is already underway, and you can expect it to be released before the end of 2007. I hope that answers your question adequately.
Thanks for choosing Train Signal!

Hello Bill,
Couple of additional items Trainsignal could incorporate to help the CBT individual.
A helpful area, equipment used in conjunction with courses. This suggestion is aimed more at Chris’s videos involving routers. Would like to see more on the physical connections bewteen router and Telcoms. For example: what type router would suit a small business using SDSL, ADSL, ISDN, T1 or fractional T1.
Have to admit my progress has been slowed by the continuing loop I find myself in while viewing the basic networking course haven’t even broken the seal on the advanced course.
