iPhone

iTunes, iPod, iPhone - you would think all these products come from the same manufacturer. Unfortunately this is not the case.

While Apple is proud of its iTunes and iPod devices, iPhone was just announced by … Linksys. And it was all done legally as Cisco (Linksys is a division of Cisco) has owned a trademark on the iPhone name since 1996.

So don’t worry about Cisco being sued. It won’t happen. See for yourself at Tarr website.

“As the next generation of handheld devices, Linksys iPhone voice solutions and products are changing the way people communicate with their friends, family and colleagues. They enable compelling internet services, allow consumers to know when their contacts are available for calls and offer access to personal content like music, movies and live video cameras” said Mike Pocock, Linksys senior vice president and general manager.

New iPhone can be used with Skype and Yahoo! Messenger with Voice as well as traditional landline services. In addition, with the new iPhone, your PC won’t have to be on anymore to make a phone call.

So we have a VoIP device called iPhone. This is great, but what about Apple? Well, Apple is still working on its new product that combines an iPod with a cell phone. It should be available for purchase sometime next year.

There is one thing though … What will Apple call it?
