Does your mailbox fill up with a bunch of bogus e-mails every day? If so, you are not alone.

There are reports that “Spam is back, and worse than ever”.

It seemed like there was less spam in December of 2006 and the Federal Trade Commission was very optimistic about spam dropping even more. But that’s not the case.

Spammers were just gearing up for a big comeback, and now we are seeing more spam than ever before. Reports now indicate that there is twice as much spam as oppsed to this time last year.

There are also new types of spam: one that includes a picture instead of text. The image makes an e-mail very difficult to be detected by filters that we are using.

You can’t create a traditional rule in your e-mail account that would search for a specific word or a phrase and put that spam e-mail in a junk folder. These images are unsearchable and filters are helpless.

Our mailboxes are full of unwanted e-mails and there is only so much we can do. After reading some of the forums, it looks like people are very upset at spammers. They think spammers should be “subject to the death penalty”, or be put in jail. Some also call SPAM the “Illegal Aliens of the Internet”.

No matter what we call them and no matter how bad we think of spammers, we are still going to have a lot of junk e-mails in our mailboxes. Make sure not to open any of them and delete them right away.
