Thanks. What is a bit confusing to new Fox-it users is that when you click on "Save,"
a text file option comes up in the "save as" box. If you try to save as text, that is when you get the Foxit message that you need to buy the Pro-pack. You have to change the "text" option in the "save as" box to PDF before Foxit will allow you to save the document.

Lilly,
By the way, I just came across this the day after responding to your comment. It is called PDF to Word and it does the opposite. It takes a PDF file and turns it into a Word document so you can edit it, update it, or just copy some parts and past them elsewhere.

Then, you can always use doPDF to convert anything to a PDF file to get it back if you want to.

Lilly, you are correct that Fox-It is just a reader (just like Adobe Reader is just a reader). You have to pay to get the version that lets you create PDF files just like you have to pay for the Adobe Acrobat software to make PDF files.

You can, however, save a PDF file that you open. Just choose File -> Save As instead of just Save and you should be in business.

To create PDF files, I use a utility called doPDF that creates a virtual printer on your computer. Then, whenever you want a PDF file of something, you just print it, but instead of sending it to your default printer, select the doPDF "printer" and it will prompt you for a save location. The PDF generated is an exact match of what the printout would have been. (This is not for making forms or anything, but works great to just get a PDF to send or use.)

I may be istaken in my last comment. It looks like Fox-it allows you to save a document in PDF format, but not in text format. AM I right about this?

I love Fox-It except for the fact that it will not allow you to save a PDF file. You must buy the Pro version to do this. Are there any Acrobat alternatives that let you save the PDF? Thanks!
