Writing Topics

Your essay must have a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 1000 words and it must focus on one of these topics:

  • Why did you (or why would you) want to get into the IT field?
  • What is the best and most difficult part of being in (or breaking into) the IT field?
  • What are the most important goals you have set for yourself as an IT professional (or an aspiring IT professional) and how do you plan to achieve them?

Contest Description

The Words for Training Contest (the “Contest”) is designed to encourage and inspire IT professionals and those breaking into the IT field to write about their thoughts, experiences and goals and how they pertain to the IT field.


Binding Agreement

In order to enter the Contest, you must agree to these Official Contest Rules (the “Rules”), so please read this entire document prior to entry to ensure you understand and agree. You agree that submission of an entry in the Contest constitutes agreement to the Rules. The Rules form a binding legal agreement between you and Train Signal, Inc with respect to the Contest.


Eligibility

The Contest is open to all individuals 18 years and older. Current Train Signal employees are not eligible. Only one entry per person.


How to Enter

To enter, email your essay along with your name and contact information (email address and phone number) to contest@trainsignal.com. Entries received by fax, mail or personal delivery will not be accepted. All entries shall become the property of Train Signal, Inc.


Contest Deadline

To be eligible, all entries must be submitted by midnight (CST) on Friday, July 18th, 2008. Train Signal, Inc is not responsible for lost or delayed entries.


Judging

Decisions of the contest judges are final and not negotiable. Each entry will be judged according to the following equally weighted factors: originality, creativity and quality of writing.


Prizes

All Prizes are not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded. The persons whom are determined as winners will be required to submit a photograph of themselves before the prize is awarded to them. By claiming the prize, the winner authorizes the use, without additional compensation of his or her name, photograph and municipality of residence for promotion and advertising purposes as deemed appropriate by Train Signal, Inc. Any potential winner who cannot be contacted by email or phone within 14 days of the first attempted notification will forfeit his/her prize.


Intellectual Property

Each Participant retains ownership of all intellectual property rights of his/her Entry. As a condition of the Entry, Participants grant Train Signal, Inc a royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable license to use and publish any Entry that Participants submit to this Contest.


Elimination

All Participants guarantee that their Entries are original and that they are the sole and exclusive owners of the submitted Entries. Any entry that is not the original work or does not conform to the Official Rules may result in immediate elimination of the Participant from the Contest. Likewise, any false information provided concerning identity, contact information or non-compliance with the Official Rules may result in elimination from the Contest.


Privacy

Participants agree that personal data including name, mailing address, phone number and email address may be collected and used for purposes of administering the Contest. If a Participant does not provide the required data when requested, the Participant’s Entry will be ineligible for any prizes. All personal data collected will be maintained in accordance with Train Signal’s Privacy Policy which all Participants should read and understand.
